Whisky or Whiskey

Interesting fact… Glenrothes 40 Year Old 1970 - The Octave (Duncan Taylor) 41.6% whisky spells its name whisky as it originates in Scotland. Had it been produced in America its name would be Glenrothes 40 Year Old 1970 - The Octave (Duncan Taylor) 41.6% whiskey, instead of whisky.

Glenrothes Octave Bottling Note

This was distilled in 1970 and aged for the majority of its maturation in standard-sized casks, before being transferred into very small octave-sized casks for a finish. The result of this is an incredibly spicy, rich Glenrothes.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Minty, spiced, apple crumble, caramel, malt, oak and a little apple peel.

Palate: Big, rich and spicy palate, offering up oily notes of toffee, walnut, mushroom, truffle oil and pine resin. A core of thick, syrupy malt.

Finish: Long, spicy and balanced with notes of chamomile, sweet breakfast tea, honey and marmalade on toast.
