The very first batch of Glendronach's Cask Strength, this is a no-age-statement malt aged in both Oloroso and sweet Pedro Ximenez casks before bottling at natural cask strength. Intense and full of flavour...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Huge notes of butterscotch, milk chocolate and Christmas spices. Hints of cooked fruit, stem ginger and manuka honey.

Palate: Rich, oily palate entry with mouth-coating notes of juicy sultanas, baked apple and nutmeg. A little aniseed develops late palate with notes of orange rind and chocolate.

Finish: Long, spiced. Ground walnut and melted rum and raisin ice-cream.

Disapointed.

Not so much sherry-influece that i thought it would be. With little water & time it opens up and gets little better. Sorry. Buy Revival/Allardice instead...

I agree with the above review.

This whisky is too young and lacks complexity. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, it's still fine single malt scotch in the grand scheme. But for sherry heads, Revival is a far better buy.

Superb

After two weeks I finally understand this whisky. Flakes dipped in hot caramel. Yum yum.

Caramel

Caramel dipped in melted flakes.

Sherry

If you want sherry go buy sherry. This whisky is superb. Like a kid in a toy shop drinking this. Good job.

I don't agree

Sublime whisky.

Chocolate

Like flakes melting in dark chocolate. Sherry and silk.

10 seconds

Smells like sherry. On the palette you got chocolate raisins and dark caramel. Give it twenty seconds and you got caramel and cream. Can't wait for batch 2.

Wonderful

A wonderful whisky, notes of chocolate raisins, honey, caramel and spice. Don´t get me wrong I adore The 15 years Revival but this is sublime.
