Distillers' Single Malts 12 years and under - 2014
International Spirits Challenge
Insider knowledge: Glen Moray 10 Year Old Chardonnay whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Glen Moray 10 Year Old Chardonnay whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Banana, melon, and butterscotch aromas. A strong delightful hit of toffee, almond, and hazelnut on the palate. Smooth and multifaceted finish. Add a tiny splash of water: straight up there's too much of an alcohol kick, but too much water dulls the flavors. A drop or two makes the flavors explode, especially if you let it sit for 5-10 minutes to open up.

Very strange nose on it like noting I've ever smelt taste is better but not to impressed with this one

priceworthy, quite comparable to the Glenmorangie Traditional

The nose is one of a fully oaked chardonnay with the added warmth from the higher alcohol content, the mouth is full, vinous and sweet with a long warming vanilla finish. A "classic" whisky it is not, but at this price it has to be worth anyone's money, IMO.
I'm surprised we haven't seen more of these sorts of bottling's sooner, yes they won't be to everyone's taste but they have the potential to produce excellent results just as this has.

Overly sweet, and very one dimensional. Worth trying for something a little different. But that's probably it.

Smooth as silk, very little burn, looks nice on your shelf. Very happy with it, expression is unique and very enjoyable. Great whisky, great price.
