What's in a name? Cutty Sark 12 Year Old whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Cutty Sark 12 Year Old whiskey, rather than whisky.
Nose: Light, balanced. Salty character, buttery. Seville marmalade. Cut hay, pear drops.
Palate: Gentle, vanilla, touch of tropical fruit, perfume note, citrus.
Finish: Good length, dried seaweed, sweetness, oak.
Extremely well balanced whisky, in which the 12 years really do the trick. Light and elegant, with a touch of honey in it. Definitely recommandable in this prize range.
