Jim Murray's Whisky Bible
Interesting fact… Caol Ila 16 Year Old 1996 (cask 9512) - Old Malt Cask (Douglas Laing) whisky spells its name whisky as it originates in Scotland. Had it been produced in America its name would be Caol Ila 16 Year Old 1996 (cask 9512) - Old Malt Cask (Douglas Laing) whiskey, instead of whisky.
Nose: Classic Coal Ila notes of brine and beach barbecue.
Palate: Sweet peat, coastal air and a hint of cappuccino.
Finish: Fairly long with sweet smoke.
Overall: Coastal, sweet and slightly smoky, unmistakably Caol Ila.
