Insider knowledge: Bruichladdich 21 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Bruichladdich 21 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Nose: Thick, supple sherry. Dried fruits, barley. Juicy. Nutty.
Palate: Vanilla, caramel, fruit salad, exotic fruits too, sherry.
Finish: Dark, long, sherried.
In amongst the sherry, the fruit (passion fruit and lime) is a definite sherbet spritz. This one is sprightlier than the 17 year old. Complex and fascinating!
