Insider knowledge: Bruichladdich 1984 whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Bruichladdich 1984 whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Nose: Fresh, leafy. Allspice, vanilla, soft toffee, coastal.
Palate: Soft sweetness, touch of dry oak, vanilla spice, peppery, cocoa.
Finish: Spicy, a little astringent fruit, peppery, vanilla.
This is the sort of whiskey that makes one want to earn more money. Bruichladdich 1984 is smooth, subtle and has a terrific finish without being overwhelmed by peat.
