I am new to Scotch. I’ve been more less a bourbon man. This Benromach 10 to me is briny and smoky. As the bottle opens up and I become more accustomed to these flavors I find it very interesting. I get more of the sweetness now and the malt. I really enjoy this and want to try more of this style of scotch. I will purchase this again.
Agree with most of the reviewers below, a great value and entirely atypical Speysider. slightly resinous fruit on the palate chased with (not too much) peat smoke.
Has a slight charcoal fire finish which is not a bad thing. For a speyside it is shockingly full of smoke flavour. It is missing a bit of the full mouth feel and it dries out the tongue quite a bit. Besides that, it is absolutely tasty and memorable. It tastes unlike many other scotches and it sets its self aside as something that you will quickly recognize from the dozens of Speysides out there.
Surprisingly smooth. Wasn’t expecting that of a 10 yr old.
Great 10 year old whisky. I actually preferred it to the 15. I felt the 10 had plenty of flavour and the 15 was a bit too much... like when you over-stew a cup of tea!! There’s a definite unique smell / taste to Benromach, which instantly reminded me of the distillery tour.
