What's in a name? Balvenie 30 Year Old whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Balvenie 30 Year Old whiskey, rather than whisky.
Light and perfumed on the nose, with a gentle development of a most floral honey, a slight oily roundness and allspice. The palate is warming and quite rich. A sweet honey develops, a hint of cigar leaf with nutty sherry. All the time there is an edge of smoke and malty peat. The finish is long and aromatic, it is all in the subtlety by which is departs, floral and faintly fruited.
