Auchroisk 23 Year Old 1990 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)
A relatively young distillery, Auchroisk was founded in 1972 and briefly produced whiskies under the name ‘The Singleton’. Mainly used in blends, Auchroisk is rarely seen bottled as a Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This single cask was distilled in 1990 and aged for 22 years in a sherry hogshead (that was a bit leaky), the result was just 99 absolutely cracking bottles! Meaty and bold, this is a rare treat indeed.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Vanilla and even crème brulée with big sweetness and malt.
Palate
Big; a full on whisky. Nutty and bold, cream sweetness with more vanilla.
Finish
Satisfying and rich. Real power balanced with smooth creaminess.
Overall
Hands down delicious. The hoggy was bit leaky, so the outturn on this cask was very low making this bottling even more rare.
