What's in a name? Rittenhouse Rye 25 Year Old whiskey is called whiskey because it's produced in America. Were it from Scotland it would be spelled Rittenhouse Rye 25 Year Old whisky, rather than whiskey.
Nose: Good spiciness, but mostly this astonishing sweetness - comes in waves of sugar-coated nuts and chocolate raisins. Then a sandalwood hit with vanilla, almond and nougat. Hints of Turkish Delights too. Palate: Handfuls of exotic spice, sweetness, mint chocolate, custard, then a rapidly building crescendo of rich oak - which is present in a big way, but its possibly the softest oak you'll every try.
