Aberlour a'Bunadh Batch 41 Bottling Note

Batch 41 of the much sought-after Aberlour a'Bunadh. Described as a respectful toast to Aberlour's founder, James Fleming, this stunning whisky is produced in the style of the 19th Century whiskies once made at the distillery. It is beautiful whisky, aged in Spanish Oloroso Sherry Butts, with neither colouring nor chill-filtration. Just pure, unadulterated whisky, with an incredibly spicy flavour. We love it.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Mixed spices including plenty of cinnamon, hazelnuts and caramalised peel and lots of rich Oloroso sherry notes.

Palate: Marmalade, maraschino cherries, prunes and sultanas. Ginger nut biscuits and dark chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel.

Finish: Intense and oaky with peppered dark chocolate.

Overall: There's a reason these releases are so popular... a bandwagon worth jumping on.

My favourite

Heavily sherried cask strength beast Amazing

Phenomenal!

The spiciness of this whisky is perfect. The sherry isn't overwhelming, and the sweetness complements the spice wonderfully. It's complex for a Speyside, and pulls it off well.

First Aberlour experience

The Aberlour a'Bunadh is an ok Speyside whisky, but this batch did not excite me at all. The wood component is very strong, leaving a bitter taste in the mouth that covers almost everything. Maybe on ice.

Maybe put a splash of coke in it as well....

I am getting a bottle now on that review alone. Best be worth it.
