Nose: An initially Juniper-rich bouquet is backed up with a solid backbone of rich grain spirit. Top notes of Cardamom and Orange blossom are evident with just a suggestion of Cinnamon.
Palate: The initial Focus is Juniper, but the earthier botanicals make themselves known in the initial palate too. Mouthfeel is exceptionally viscous and creamy – this is good spirit, and it makes itself known.
Finish: The juniper subsides and gives way to the Cardamom and Cinnamon, with a late resurgence from Orange Peel.
Overall: A most unusual, but quite entrancing Gin. To our knowledge this is the only cold-compounded gin currently available.
Very Viscous, Slightly Tinted, and with an absolutely huge flavor. This is a really good Gin!

the best gin and tonic gin I've ever had. I've tried a lot of premium gins and this beats them all.

I bought this gin for my boss as a thank you, and i have to say this is one of the best gins i have ever tasted, complex flavors and a slight anise sense to the finish , but not overpoweringly so. incredible in a martini, straight from the freezer, 2 drops of Noilly Prat, no ice what so ever.... delicious. you have to try this!!!

I bought a bottle for a work colleague but i drank it myself with the wife. She absolutely loves it so much we've purchased a further six bottles. The flavour is so intense. Just love it to bits!!!

I love gin and was attracted by the description, reviews and the 'olde english' packaging. This gin is sublime and worth every penny. The aroma when you open the bottle is everything it describes. You will not be disappointed, this is by far my most favourite gin to date! Enjoy!

Oxley Classic English Dry Gin is also cold infused. ;-)
20th March 2012
The best way to drink it is with sugar and lemon juice. It is heavenly!
26th March 2012
That's not quite right - Oxley is distilled at low temps by pulling a vacuum on it so it is still boiled\distilled just not with heat - so is not a cold compound like bathtub.

Think the colour put me off - actually reminded me of bathwater. Will stick to Millers.

I. Hate. Gin. But I was given a dram of this along with a bottle of Rumbullion and it's very nice. Nothing amazing, but the simple fact that I liked any form of gin makes this a bit special in my view.

i bought this as a gift for a friend and she LOVED it! she said it made the most delicious gin and tonic she's ever had.

Very nice with tonic, it really brings out the orangey flavour, my favourite gin to have with tonic, perhaps too strong a flavour to mix into cocktails but on it's own it's brilliant.

Wonderful on the palate and very strong. The best G&T ever!

I thought Bombay Sapphire was a step above the average gin, but this takes things to a new level. This gin is too good to mix with anything else. Have it neat and savour the flavour.

Makes a fantastic gin and tonic, especially with a slice of lime, you can really taste the botanicals in this gin and it is incredibly smooth, very drinkable. Next to Hendricks its my new favourite gin!

Was given a bottle for my 50th last month and not yet opened it. The comments above excite me so will let you know how i get on.

I can't say much more, this is a truly wonderful gin, buy it.....no wait, don't, just in case I run out!

If you've never tasted this gin you're missing out. Incredibly smooth and complex flavour. Keep the cooking gin for your guests and keep this for yourself!

My spirits were lifted by the consumption of this spirit. Let it sit in the glass with some ice and quality tonic for a bit and the flavours will meld together. The orange peel flavour is delicious.

All these reviews are so positive that I must order na mbottle. My only questionmark before I taste it for myself is that someone said its the next best Gin to Hendricks. When I had a bottle of Hendricks a year or so ago I was completely underwhelmed.

You think of Gin as a cheap liquor, but this bottle was well worth the money!

Can anyone advise how it compares to The Botanist?

A friend said I didn't know gin, he was right! This is sublime with or without tonic. A whole new taste experience.

A nice gin to drink straight or with tonic; in cocktails it seems out of place. It's a fine gin, and whilst is better than most high street products, it isn't the the best for my tastes.
I seem to get a harsher cinnamon taste initially - perhaps a little too much cinnamon for my liking, then subtle orange in the finish. I think I'd prefer it the other way around.
The packaging is quirky and interesting and would make a nice gift. I think it would be better if a thin wire was placed around the cap and teased through the hole to make for easy, uniform opening.
Worth a try once, and would definitely recommend doing so - But I don't think I'd buy it again.

Just been experimenting - this gin makes the best gin and coke. It tastes like a sort of adult Dr. Pepper.

I love the botanist gin, especially in a martini, and would love to try this too, the reviews sound amazing, think it may have to be a Christmas present to myself :)
