About Lochside Whisky Distillery
Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard)
The legendary Joseph W. Hobbs starts production at Lochside Distillery, housed in the old brewery James Deuchar Brewery. Macnab Distillery Ltd is responsible for operations and uses the whisky in their blended Sandy Macnab’s. Only grain whisky is produced the first years.
Malt whisky is also distilled.
Joseph Hobbs passes away and his son Joe takes over.
The Spanish company Destilerias y Crianza del Whisky (later to be acquired by Pedro Domecq) buys the distillery and restarts production.
Grain whisky production ceases.
The last distillation takes place in May and the distillery is then mothballed.
Allied Lyons buys Pedro Domecq and changes name to Allied Domecq.
All equipment and stored whisky is removed from the buildings.
The facilities are partly destroyed by a fire. Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard) become new owners through the acquisition of Allied Domecq.
