This is a well aged Glen Grant from Duncan Taylor, distilled in 1970 and bottled at cask strength. It's a truly brilliant malt with loads of flavour and complexity.
Nose: Oaky sweetness with green berries and spice. Very deep and satisfying with nothing is out of place.
Palate: Great mouth feel, very soft with lots of vanilla, spiced with nutmeg and clove. Some orange notes here too, balanced by some fresher, apple notes.
Finish: Long and sweet, a rich medley of Demerara sugar and butterscotch with faint traces of stewed orange.
Overall: A truly great 40 year old that's well worth the money. impeccably balanced.
