Balcones Blue Bourbon Bottling Note

The Balcones distillery out in Waco, Texas, are well known for using blue corn in their spirits - they were the first to make a whisky using it! This right here is their very own bourbon, incorporating the brilliant blue corn in the mash-bill - a stonkingly tasty release from the inventive distillers...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Fresh vanilla, coffee bean and a hearty dollop of honey. Toasted walnut and roast chestnut notes follow.

Palate: Cigar box, chocolate truffle, still quite nutty. A burst of spicy cinnamon at the core.

Finish: Molasses, caramel and a hint of fried bread.

Balcones Texas Blue Corn Bourbon Reviews

Into outer space !

I really do think this is the best bourbon in the world bar none but I also think that it is over priced quite a lot in fact. It's like the Sullivan's cove French oak cask , that is bonkers over priced and as taste is subjective it might not be everyone's "world best single Malt whiskey " . It's funny because the whisky that wins "world best single malt" is only awarded it by a group of people and not the world so how can it be called theoretically "Worlds best single malt" I mean come on, really ? It's only the best whiskey or whisky in there eyes not the world at that time and then when you go to buy a bottle the price has gone bonkersly through the sealing and through the roof and into out of space ! So in the eyes of all things being fair I think this whiskey is the best in the world...........for me, but it is over priced which is probably due to its carbon foot print being that its imported to the U.K and customs and taxes duty.

Not a wolf in sheeps clothing

not a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Like the feller below said I'm also not a big fan of bourbon it usually is very deceiving, enticing you in with those caramel and toffee aromas and then when you taste it it's bitter and acrid and no matter how hard you try that flavour just doesn't deminish and I never ever will go back to that well known Kentucky brand but this Balcones bourbon is everything that bourbon should be with its sweet bannanas and fried bread and lovely sweet molasses and that blue corn just really just puts the proverbial cherry on the top. There are no mass produced evil flavours here it's totally a hand crafted distillery special and it is just that "special" . I've had many bad bourbons that when you smell them and get those sweet smells that your nose tells you what you can expect to taste only to have my expectations dashed but as mentioned above this isn't one of those. You can expect to taste what you nose is telling you with this one, it's not a wolf in sheeps clothing. Well done Balcones . No: 1 bourbon in the world. Highly recommended !

How Bourbon should taste !!!

This how bourbon should taste. It's absolutely gorgeous. I'm not a big bourbon fan and there are very few bourbons I like. All the common bourbons aren't that nice such as JDs in fact I think JDs is repulsive and only good as car wind screen washer fluid (wind shield for all you Americans) but this hits all the marks and this is actually competing for my top dram spot. I've never tasted bourbon like this and never knew it could get as good as this, it's blummimg blowen me away. Well done Chip Tate and the balcones folk 10 out 10 🥇
