Balcones distillery are creators of the first ever Texan whisk(e)y and the first ever Blue Corn whisk(e)y, and even hand-built much of their distilling equipment. Chip Tate, we salute you! This tasting set contains a fine selection of their extraordinary small batch releases.

Regarding the 5th Anniversary Bourbon, I'm afraid we only had 10 bottles in stock, so there are no plans to provide samples of it. The bottles all sold out in under a minute too! Crikey. --The Chaps at Master of Malt

Only bought the tasting set a few weeks ago and NOW there's a competition?! Darnations. Absolutely delicious range by Balcones, and unfortunately means I need to buy the full sizes. Still relatively fresh to bourbon and whiskeys but its easy to recognise the uniqueness here. I think the fact that whilst sensory evaluations are prone to subjective variance, the fact that I mostly concorded with the majority of the boxed notes shoes the determined character of these whiskeys. My only additions were the curious element of the Brimstone, where the "smoke" seemed a separate element to the core spirit, which was not unpleasant but interesting, and the distinct nose and taste of macerated pomace and grappa in the Rumble. That single malt also definitely had a strong nose of banana bread. Most of them did. Tasting sample of the 5th Anniversary? Don't want to destroy my 5th Anniversary bottle :/
