One Distillery. Two Unique Spirits. Inspired By Mull.
Tobermory and Ledaig
Discover the peated and unpeated single malts from this historic Hebridean island distillery.
Inspired by Mull
Founded in 1798, Tobermory is one of Scotland's oldest commercial whisky distilleries, and the only one on the Hebridean Isle of Mull. It produces two distinct styles of whisky, the rich, fruity, unpeated Tobermory, and the smoky, sweet, peated Ledaig.
Tobermory is as much a part of Mull's rich tapestry as the island's iconic, colourful harbour, distilling its whisky against a backdrop of rugged Hebridean landscapes and maritime climate for over two centuries.
The distillery sources its water from the nearby Gearr Abhainn brook, bringing crisp mineral quality to both its unpeated Tobermory and peated Ledaig single malts.
Ledaig peated single malt
The signature smoky expression from Tobermory, this single malt is distilled using the same pot stills as its classic unpeated whiskies, but with peated barley (30-40ppm) instead. The whisky boasts plumes of rich, earthy, almost medicinal smoke, with underlying fresh fruit and crushed spice notes.
A cracking single malt that proves Islay isn't the only place to get your hands on splendidly peaty whisky. This is the 18 Year Old Ledaig single malt, which offers up hearty phenols, smoky herbs, cracked black pepper and balancing waves of sherry-soaked fruit. Excellent stuff.
Distilled to "Embody the spirit of a moonlit Mull", Ledaig Hebridean Moon is a 10-year-old peated single malt matured entirely in bourbon casks and bottled at a bold cask strength of 58.8% ABV. Full-bodied, smoky brilliance straight from the cask. Try this in a Moonstone Manhattan (recipe below)!
Tobermory single malt
This is the signature expression from Tobermory's core range, and it's packed with sweet notes of stone fruit, oily malt, and zesty citrus peels. This single malt slumbered peacefully in American oak casks for a dozen years before being bottled at 46.3% ABV.
This beautiful 21-year-old single malt from Tobermory was finished in oloroso sherry casks. These casks were chosen to create flavours reminiscent of foraged fruit found scattered across the distillery's charming home on the Isle of Mull.
The fifth, final, and oldest instalment in Tobermory's annual Hebridean Series. Following on from the 23, 24, 25, and 26-year-old expressions, this single malt matured for a generous 27 years, beginning with 15 years in bourbon casks followed by a further 12 in Gonzalez Byass sherry casks. A superb finale to the series.
