This Speysider was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky. In fact, to create it, Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart made his very own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and then eventually replaced the rum in said casks with Balvenie's single malt! The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.
Nose: The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Palate: Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
Finish: The finish lingers with a vanilla-focused character.

An iconic Speyside single malt, Balvenie DoubleWood is, to not much surprise, aged in two kinds of oak cask. After an initial maturation in refill American oak, the whisky is treated to a nine-month finish in first-fill European oak oloroso sherry butts. This rich and complex dram is an excellent example of what the Balvenie distillery can craft.
Nose: Gristy, supple nuttiness intertwined with spices. Honeyed sultanas and grapes. Hugely inviting.
Palate: Sweet with good body. Gentle spice with oak char, vanilla and nutty malt. Dried fruit too, combining with nuts, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
Finish: Spicy, slightly drying, still sweet.

This gin is made using black juniper and other rare botanicals inspired by the culture of the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. This type of juniper thrives in high altitude climates, and is collected by skilled local foragers.
