Old Pulteney Noss Head 1l Bottling Note

Named for the Noss Head lighthouse, which you might see if you venture far enough north (it's near Wick), this Old Pulteneny single malt Scotch whisky was released as part of a travel retail series in 2013. It's an American oak ex-bourbon-cask matured expression, packed with spicy pepper, succulent orchard fruit and touches of fragrant oak.

Old Pulteney Noss Head 1l Reviews

Great until you take into account the price

Light, sweet and briney. I really like this expression, it has a lot of character. Having said that it's not fifty quids worth of character. At that price you can potentially find something spectacular. For £35 or so this would be fantastic. Just too expensive for what it offers. We really are spoilt these days.

A refreshing sweet Pulteney

A refreshing sweet Pulteney, ignore the 1/5 reviews on this which had put me off it, luckily I decided to give it a go, it is sweet and spicy, lemon citrus and coconut.

Very Good

Spicy, peppery and sweet. A fine dram indeed. Tried a sample from the fine folks at Drinks by the Dram. Great service

Not so refreshing

Very distinct and slightly off taste. Not your usual whisky, sort of tastes like cough syrup.

Love this

As a long time fan of the classic 12 year old, I had to give this a try, it being the cheapest (by a whisker) of the 3 new lighthouse themed editions. Delighted to say I prefer it slightly! It's got that briney tang that I love from the 12 yo, but it's got a little more complexity overall and definitely a bit more sweetness and vanilla. Now onto my 2nd bottle and I've got my eye on the Duncansby Head...

Tastes like soap

Got given a bottle a few months ago, only had four glasses before I gave it away, tasted like a spicy soap. Made me doubt old pulteney.

Not bad.

Got it last week. Ok but 17 years is best.

Absolutely lovely!

Some of the travel "specials" are a little disappointing to say the least, but this beauty from Old Pulteney really is, for me, an excellent scotch and very good value.
