Old Pulteney Navigator

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Old Pulteney Navigator to the United States at the moment (although we're working hard to fix that).

In the meantime, our friends over at The Whisky Shop might be able to help you out.

Thank you for your support and understanding 🙂

Old Pulteney Navigator Bottling Note

What's that we spy off the starboard side? It's a new single malt whisky from Old Pulteney! The Navigator is a maritime malt aged in a mix of ex-sherry and bourbon casks in celebration of the distillery's history with the ocean and the old sea dogs that sail it.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sweet, succulent apple lashings with dollops of chocolate and vanilla.

Palate: Drips of honey and syrup-y orange.

Finish: A salty finish sneaks up from nowhere, very nice.

Overall: Set sail for tasty single malt!

Old Pulteney Navigator Reviews

Fruit, floral, hint of chocolate as it warms.

Starts with a sweet apple fruity flavor, moves into hints of chocolate as it warms. Dried fruit and florals on the finish.

A disappointing young and raw ageless expression

Very disappointing. I had loved the OP 21, and the 12. The navigator has the OP trademark flavour, this ages expression feels too young and raw, and has no lasting character. Avoid.

Great OP whisky

It has a smooth and wounderful taste about it. I tried it on a Cruise ship in the seas beetween sweden and Finland. Now im a luck owner of this archived product.

No !!!!!

I am absolutely disappointedy. Although I consider OP 12 years old whisky as one of the best, this one is in all aspects (nosing/tasting/finish/price) knocked out in 1st round. I won't be buying any NAS whisky in the future. Just my opinion after two very bad experience.

Excellent malt to introduce newbies to single malt

Excellent malt. Very light and crisp almost delicate. This is the perfect malt to introduce someone to single malt scotch. I'm on my 4th bottle and would highly recommend this whisky.

Heavy slabs of chocolate and sweet-sour green apple on the nose, smooth sweetness on tongue followed by the sweet and salty finish. Nothing more to ask for at this price. Would definitely order one for collection... maybe two... or three :)

Okay, but rather raw compared to the OP 12, which at about the same price is a better buy.

After drinking the OP 12 as my day-to-day whisky for the past year, I tried a bottle of The Navigator when my local merchant ran out of the 12. Although it has the signature OP salt sea-air aroma, it has a good deal of heat going down, which is probably to be expected in a whisky without an age statement. Since the very mellow 12 is about the same price as The Navigator, at least here in the US, I think the former is a better buy for the money.

I love the Old Pultney range of age statement malts. But this has some astringent and raw alcohol resulting from a rushed distilling process or from using very young casks. I wish there was more sherry influence but cannot taste anything but Bourbon. You are better off saving money and buying the excellent OP 12 year old.

Good Value

Purchased for $45 and I am pretty happy with it. Not that smooth but it is a NAS and it's at 46% and its a highland so I'm not sure why you think it would be. It's all about the flavor with this one creamy, fruity, coastal goodness like eating vanilla pudding with some raisins in it by the sea. There is a slight soapiness to it but I think that's because it is young. I like that it is non-chill filtered and natural color though. I'd say this is pretty equivalent to the 12 year with this being stronger but the 12 year a little smoother.Worth a try. Cheers! The Sugarbear
