Mezcal from the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí made with salmiana agave. Part of Derrumbes range of regional mezcals, looking at different terroir and techniques used by local producers. This is a joven, rested in oak casks before bottling.
Forest floor herbaceous smoke with some fruit tang.
The funk blue cheese smell I could write about endlessly. This agave is Salmiana, and with some extra fermentation time has one of the most wonderfully strange, addictive noses being pushed through the bottleneck. Understandably jarring initially, it’s only after sipping you smile and realise how brilliant a partner the smell is to the taste. If relatively new to Agave spirits, this is a perfect step to appreciating how varied and complex they can be. A couple of others within this vein of funk are ‘Dal Maguey - Chichicapa’ and ‘Salmiana - The Lost Explorer.’ I’m extremely lucky and grateful that my favourite Mezcal to date is so beyond reasonably priced. This pairs beautifully with strawberries or Tajin dusted slices of orange and grapefruit. Please enjoy this juicy drink, Salud.
very herbaceous indeed. while you can sense the smoke. very good and at this price it's a bargain
This is some funky good bell pepper tasting mezcal. It has a very green vegetable sweetness mixed with that slight agave funky cheese taste. It sounds like an odd mixture but it is surprisingly balanced and clean.
