Highland Wineries

Mead, one of the oldest alcoholic drinks in history, has seen quite the resurgence recently (find out more about that over on our blog)! Moniack Mead is a traditional honey mead, produced at Moniack Castle by Highland Wineries, through the process of fermenting honey. A fun mead fact: traditionally, after a wedding the bride and groom were given enough mead to last then one month, which is where the term ‘honeymoon’ came from!
Smooth and warming with a certain dryness, prominent honey and caramel flavours without being overly sweet, along with light floral notes.

Never had mead before, but I recently decided I couldn’t live my life without experiencing it and I’m glad I did. Strong honey smell and flavour. It is sweet but not sickly sweet. I too didn’t want added flavours etc. It’s made of honey so that’s all you want. Goes straight to your head, which may account for the various mead related puns in this review section. Basically it tastes like summer itself and I think I might order some more.
Wow. I bought this because I wanted to try an un-spiced mead. This did not disappoint. Very sweet, very easy to drink and with (for me) no ill after-effects to look forward to for the day after. Quite simply the nicest drink I have enjoyed in a very long time.
Brought for Christmas for my dad and the husband as big fans of mead and saw the good reviews on here so can't comment on the product but they came very well packaged and delivery was excellent.
This the best mead I have had and I have drunk a lot mead good price too ?
This is by far the best mead I have tried, although I havn't tried all that many. Zero wine smell, all honey with a hint of that "warming alcohol" scent. Perfectly smooth on the palette with nice little pings of dryness and floral tones, zero wine taste. Leaves a lovely little, almost tingly effect in the mouth that leaves you wanting more, followed by a smooth, mild warmth on the throat. I definitely get the impression that this is a "true" mead, and not a pyment like other popular varieties. This is definitely me mead of choice until/unless I find something better.
