Fernet Branca is a Fernet liqueur made with herbs and spices. Fernet Branca was created in 1845 by Bernardino Fernet, who started the company which still produces it today. Fernet Branca is made with 27 different herbs and spices from around the world, including saffron, myrrh, rhubarb, chamomile, cardamom, aloe vera and gentian. Fernet Branca is bitter and complex, with a long finish. It is typically served as an after-dinner drink or digestif.
Fernet Branca has a long history and has been enjoyed by many famous figures over the years. Fernet Branca was Winston Churchill's favourite drink, and he is quoted as saying: "In victory, deserve it. In defeat, need it." Fernet Branca was also enjoyed by Ernest Hemingway, who once said: "Fernet Branca, that great Yugoslavian drink which cures everything from a hangover to cold feet." Fernet Branca is still popular today and is enjoyed by many people around the world.

Some years ago while on holiday, my husband persuaded me to try a shot of Ferna Branca as I was suffering from a really bad hangover and felt quite ill. I tried a shot and nearly threw up because of the taste, but an hours later I felt well enough to go drinking at a pool party. I still don't like the taste, the peppermint version is nicer, but boy it works.
Drink it mixed with Coke and nothing else. This will drive your taste buds up the wall while you reach the perfect buzz from the mixture. This is an every weekend kind of drink.
Im from Argentina and there's a big (I would say huge in the province of Cordoba) culture of Fernet... we put Ice on a tall glass...then fernet...and then coca cola on top... do it and then tell me how it goes... tip...after pouring coca cola add a bit more of fernet! Salud!
Thanks to my mother, I am a big believer in Fernet-Branca and would not dream of going away without it. I have helped other people with it whilst on holiday....I feel like a white witch and love to see good results! Long may it be produced!
I was on holiday with my grandchildren 18 years ago and must have eaten something off which gave me really bad stomach cramps and a sickly feeling. I felt as though I was going to ruin the holiday for them. We were due to take a boat ride, which I felt certain that I would not be able to enjoy the sail, especially as the sea was wild. A local taxi driver told me about Fernet-Branca. I have to be honest and say that it worried me about drinking it, but it was like taking a magic potion as all my pains and sickness went away totally! I enjoyed the boat trip...and the food on board. Now, I cannot live without it inside my cupboard for those 'off days'.
