Combining a bold blend of Malbec and Cabernet Franc grapes, here we have the 2019 vintage of the tremendous BenMarco Expresivo from Argentina's Susana Balbo winery. The grapes are harvested from some of the coldest climates of the Uco Valley, grown in limestone rich soils, providing glorious mineral undertones to the rich profile. Bottled after 14 months in French oak, this is a splendid accompaniment to creamy meat dishes, or perhaps a nice selection of hard cheeses.
Juicy red fruits, darker berries, and sweet stone fruits balance richly tannic oak, and earthen spice, with a touch of flint beneath.
