Contino is the single vineyard arm of of one of oldest and best producers in Rioja, CVNE. This is largely made from tempranillo and spends around two years in French and American oak barrels and then four years in bottle. So you're getting a wine where the tannins have softened, the oak integrated and it's ready to go. It's worth decanting an hour or so before serving with roast lamb or richly flavoured vegetable dishes.
Blackcurrants and strawberries with coconut, vanilla, leather and tobacco, soft melting tannins and a very long finish.
