The 2022 vintage of The Chocolate Block is a blend of 74% syrah, 10% grenache, 8% cinsault, 7% cabernet sauvignon and a touch (1%) of viognier grapes. From South African winemaker, Boekenhoutskloof, this is the 20th vintage of The Chocolate Block, producing 3,349 barrels, and it's as full of berry and cacao character as ever. An excellent pairing for rich, meaty dishes. It's great to sip alongside nibbles too, think smoked almonds and spiced olives.
Hedgerow fruits and plum pudding gives way to earthy spice, with soft tannins, and plenty of silky dark chocolate.

Fabulous with steak and chesse to follow - fruity, malty, slight tannin - we drank the bottle... Do get it to room temperature and open at least an hour before drinking.
