Writers Tears is a light, sweet Irish whiskey made using a mix of single pot still and single malt whiskeys, resulting in oodles of honeyed, fruity notes. Wonderfully easy to drink, it would make for a great introduction to Irish whiskey for folks new to the spirit. (No writers were harmed in the making of this whiskey.)
Soft and sweet with thick honey spread on granary toast. Hints of citrus peels.
Honey develops on the palate. Mellow notes of vanilla and golden malt. Green apple skin, caramel and a hint of oak.
Warming, sweet and long.
Very yummy Irish whiskey indeed.
This is a mild-mannered gentle and tasty brew. Very tasty. It will appeal greatly to non-lovers of peat and gasoline. Handy to have in the drinks cupboard as will not go wrong with any palette you are likely to invite around.
Impressed by this Irish whisky. I’m a big fan of Speyside and Islay scotches. This is a lovely, smooth alternative. I smelt orange from the bottle, but I’m told now that it’s Apple...
I really like this one, it's as smooth as it is tasty. Very easy to drink. I can taste a lot of apple and honey in this, but there's no excessive sweetness that could ruin the blend. My local supplier specified that this blend is 60% malt and 40% copper pot still. I will definitely be buying more for myself and as gifts. This is now my favourite Irish blend in this price range. Previous fav was Tullamore XO Rum Cask, but Tears is a decidedly better blend.
This is quite disappointing. The only nose I could get was alcohol. The taste is OK but just OK and certainly not worth the price tag. I would say there are better blended whiskeys than this.
Love it! Smooth, malty taste! Not harsh like some whiskey.
