Writers Tears is a light, sweet Irish whiskey made using a mix of single pot still and single malt whiskeys, resulting in oodles of honeyed, fruity notes. Wonderfully easy to drink, it would make for a great introduction to Irish whiskey for folks new to the spirit. (No writers were harmed in the making of this whiskey.)
Soft and sweet with thick honey spread on granary toast. Hints of citrus peels.
Honey develops on the palate. Mellow notes of vanilla and golden malt. Green apple skin, caramel and a hint of oak.
Warming, sweet and long.
Very yummy Irish whiskey indeed.
Started getting this as a birthday present many years ago to sit in with my copious collection of Highland and Speyside malts. Thoroughly enjoying the taste of my Irish addition.
After an exhausting pooling adventure with tropical temperatures, this whiskey made us forget all of our sweaty endeavours whilst sending us into a honey-based heaven. Truly remarkable in its easiness.
As someone who doesn't like to set my Whisky foot outside of Speyside too often, I only tried this as it was a freebie, believe it or not, with a Drinks club I joined. Not ashamed to say it absolutely lovely and proof that there is life outside of Speyside... Just don't leave too often ?
New in this whisky world but I know what I like and this is it. Highly recommend to anyone trying to enjoy a glass or two
At 63 and having sampled many whiskey’s from both Ireland and Scotland this is my absolute favourite, mellow and sweet. Am I alone in detecting a very slight hint of liquorice on the nose. Very drinkable sipping whiskey.
