This is an 8 year old Irish single malt whiskey from The Quiet Man range, finished in first-fill bourbon barrels. The name doesn't come from the John Wayne film, but from the father of the brand owner, a bartender who heard many stories when behind the bar but told no tales.
Honey, sharp apple, white oak, fudge.
Toffee apple, pear, thick vanilla and orange peels.
Light vegetal oak, brown sugar, ginger snaps.
At first a smooth/buttery mouth feeling, a light oaky sweetness, a hint of something fruity, a slight smoke in the aftertaste. A bit too young/strong in the nose, relatively light and clean, not hugely complex, but in no way awful either
A very smooth and drinkable drop of the pure. Nothing amazing flavour wise but defo better than your 20-30 quid brews
Lovely whiskey, quite different from my usual. I smelled Bradley apples. The finish was a bit like liquorice. Lovely!
Very clinical taste to it. High burn. Smokey taste to it which doesn't really belong in an Irish.
Enjoyed the light smoke, fruit and cinnamon. Drank the whiskey neat, no water. Great single malt Irish whiskey at a good mid range price.
