Single Malt
A wonderfully well-sherried single malt from the Tamnavulin Distillery, which begins its life in American oak barrels before being finished in three different types of sherry casks! Three of 'em! Shouldn't come as a surprise, but if you're a fan of all those Christmas cakey, chocolatey, red berry-y notes, you'll probably be into this one from the Speyside-based distillery.
Brown sugar, gingersnaps and cinnamon rolls, raspberry jam and a hint of toasted malt.
Cadbury's Fruit & Nut, more pastry notes, honeycomb and Christmas cake.
Dried apricot, citrus peels and vanilla pod.
This is a terribly bitter whiskey with barely any classic Speyside or sherry notes present. The nose is rather bland and uninviting, but the palate is just terrible. Not sure what sort of barrels they used to get such a bitter taste. This is the complete opposite of what sherry casks are supposed to produce. It's one of those whiskeys that you can't drink without a ton of ice or coke. This would only be ok as a mixer at less than half of its price. Otherwise it's just a scam sherry malt. Stay away!!!
One of the best value for money whiskies on the market. Helps make a Speyside whisky, the most enjoyable of all Scotch whiskies
It's awful. Love sherry casks normally, but this is bland, and really harsh. So disappointing.
Elitists may not like that a young distillery can produce excellent products. Nose: aromatic, creamy banana, grapes, vanilla. Palate: maple syrup, raisin, vanilla. Finish: medium, mostly vanilla. Lots of flavour, easy to drink and excellent at the price. Not for smoke lovers.
Got this for a bargain £20.50 from Amazon Black Friday. I was taking a gamble really, and expected it to be paint stripper at this price. It’s a lovely dark colour. I do like a tamer whisky, only drinking the Laphroigs and Lagavullin with blue cheese. But Mmm, the sweet notes of this tickled my taste buds. Even my wife likes it (bad news for me). I drink it neat, allowing my own salivations to dilute it in my mouth. It’s an easy drink, sweet and not harsh. If anything, it lacks a traditional whisky taste...perhaps a bit of it on the nasal out breath ...it’s more a single malt alco-pop! I do like it though.
