This is the second addition to the 'Spot' range of Irish whiskeys, which contains the famous Green Spot Pot Still Whiskey. The Yellow Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey which has been matured in three types of cask: American bourbon cask, Spanish sherry butts and Spanish Malaga casks for a sweeter flavour.
There are masses of fleshy stone fruit on the nose, especially peach and apricot with hints of sherried dried fruit and bourbon cask vanilla.
The palate is equally fruity with a substantial body and a velvety texture.
The finish is long and sweet with notes of marzipan and dried apricots.
This is very different to the Green Spot we all know and love with a delicious sweetness to it and a firmer body.
This is a beautifully balanced single pot still Irish whiskey. The three different cask types have been blended together to perfection. It's a bit pricey for a 12 year old bottled at 46% but it's worth every penny. Flawless.

I bought the Midleton tasting set and was blown away by the Yellow Spot 12 year old. A full bottle was ordered straight away. For me, the tasting notes are pretty accurate and I'll not add anything to them. A lovely, lovely, very drinkable whiskey.

I told my wife that I love Green Spot, but I haven’t tried Yellow Spot, so she bought me a bottle for my birthday. I love the hint of sweet vanilla and toffee, the mild aroma, and smoothness that is typical in pot still Irish whiskey. I bought a second bottle. I like it as much as Redbreast 12, Midleton Rare, and possibly Powers JL 12. However, each has it’s own unique taste, so it is hard to compare.
