Powers Gold Label is a classic Irish whiskey, introduced in 1791 by John Power & Son. Once a single pot still whiskey, it's long since been a blend of pot still and grain whiskeys. Powers have reintroduced single pot still Irish whiskey to their range, however, with their John's Lane Release.
Super sweet shortbread notes, with honeysuckle and tangerine peel.
Buttery shortbread, cereal, pears and a little milk chocolate.
Short and mouthwatering, the spices shine through in waves with honey lingering to the end.

Gold label is the best is sipping/drinking whiskey per pound simple as. If you like a sipping whiskey, then Ireland produces the best blended although Black Bottle from over the sea is a mighty fine blend. Difficult to get hold outside of Ireland and often comes in 1L bottles when your there says it all for me. Why can't I get in the UK ? Because the Irish drink it all that's why.
Powers Gold Label is too good to miss at this price.
My 2nd favorite entry level Irish Whiskey behind Kilbeggan, full of caramel and spice, great flavor, great value for the price
The best Irish blend out there for the price.
I've spent the last year trying top to bottom shelf Irish whiskeys and scotches and this is by far the best mid-priced tasting one for the price. It has everything a good Irish whiskey should have... honey, caramel, toffee, cereal, spice and it's all together in a nice creamy smooth blend. I get it for $35/1L and you'd be hard pressed to find anything this good without spending at least another $10-$15/bottle. It's much more refined than similarly priced whiskeys like Jameson or Bushmills.
