Port Ellen 12th Release Bottling Note

It’s a Port Ellen, it’s rare and everyone wants some but well… it’s easy to see why. Bottled from a mixture of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks at 52.5%abv and with an impressive thirty-two years of cask ageing - this offering from the long-closed distillery is sublime.Only 2,964 bottles were released in the 2012 offering from drinks conglomerate Diageo.

One bottle per person.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Watermelon… quite literally, then comes Satsuma slices and that famous chamois leather with the faintest suggestion of lemon. There is a peat presence here but it is like the stage on which the actors play - it isn’t the focal point.

Palate: Woody peat followed by cream, butter icing, fresh-cut kiwi fruit and linoleum.

Finish: Chamois leather, dry bracken and smouldering wood embers form and long, rich finish.

Overall: Port Ellen is still hanging in there, this remains cracking whisky it’s a shame there’s not much of it left.

The Holy grail

I bought 1 bottle of this for my 40th, it was honestly so Special I bought another to Keep for my Childs Wedding. I'm glad I did as the Price Keeps going up.

Nose: Cough Medicine with Wax, but it's Not about the nose so much with this one...
Month: a Great Laphroaig with a hint Fruit Salad
Finish: complex, Long, Fruit, Salty, Nuts.

its so good, I kept questioning why a distillery like this can have its Gates Closed forever. Truly a Holy Grail of Whiskys.

so good

Had this at Brasserie 19 last night in Houston. I was the first customer to open the bottle. I couldn't quite detect the watermelon, but definitely a hint of something citrusy, and the smokey flavor was very well done very leather and smouldering wood smoke finish. Bottle number 2625
