Overeem 5 Year Old - Batch 3 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
Joining That Boutique-y Whisky Company's Return to Oz collection is this Australian single malt from Overeem distillery in Tasmania. It's been matured for five years in an Apera cask, which is an Australian fortified wine, similar to sherry. The distillery was re-acquired by Jane Overeem (daughter of Overeem founder, Casey Overeem) in 2020, giving new hope to fans of the distillery.
Batch 3 is a release of 522 bottles.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Rich dark chocolate, dried fruits, plums and raisins, with notes of hazelnut, nutmeg and cinnamon, and just a hint of mint coming through the chocolate.
Palate
Viscous, bold, and incredibly well balanced. Dark chocolate leads hazelnuts and raisins, followed by peppery spices.
Finish
Long and deliciously spicy.
