Blended whisky from Nikka. A very good blend all in all, with plenty of malt and dried fruit flavour.
Malty, notes of cooked apples, porridge oats, pear, beeswax and honey.
Rich and malty. This is a simple blend, but one of great quality and balance. Notes of orange zest, toffee and oak, with hints of peanut butter and cocoa.
Decent length with stewed fruits, cloves, a hint of cinnamon and digestive biscuits.
Seems to be discontinued but can still be found in some shops in Japan, a very pleasant sherried dram, the tasting notes above are spot on, goes down ever so easy, very nice!
Nose: Wonderfully rich, with plummy fruits and thick toffee sweetness. Milder cream and cereal. Apple comes through with water. Palate: Bright sharp taste - soft fruit swirls round sharp grain. Malt present, growing with time. Spice sparkles occasionally. The initial intensity of the nose is not repeated, however. Finish: Fruity malt, fading with a touch of spice, followed by creamy grain. Fruit again. I think this is a good whisky, but JW Black is £15 less, and most entry level single malts lie between... If you find a minature, and you've yet to try a Japanese whisky, go for it (that's what I did, and don't regret it). Otherwise, look elsewhere.
