10 year old single barrel bourbon from the Michter's Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. A brilliant expression - well balanced notes of dried fruit, oak-y spice and vanilla with a subtle herbaceous hint along the way. Simply put, this is top quality bourbon.
Rounded notes of hot chocolate, old brandy, vanilla ice cream and charred oak.
Black Forest gateau, cinnamon cookies, orange oil, a hint of buttered apple.
Peanut brittle, cask char warmth and peppercorn.
£5.57 - £39.45
Guys. Im not saying anyone should spend high prices.. good spirits are of course available for less. So maybe the low star average on this site is more about the price than the quality. But if the reviews reflect the actual bourbon then something is wrong. I had the chance to tatste this just omce and it was spectacular. A bourbon you could sip on and contemplate all night long. Simply amazing. Would i spend 400 on it.. if i was wealthy i guess i would. I have a bottle i refuse to open because as a collector it is worth too much.. but it is very amazing whiskey.
was 85.95 four years ago, folks. And it was 'meh' then.
The source and actual age of this stuff are not what they used to be, or what its reputation was derived from for that matter either. A much cheaper bottle of Woodford double wood is very similar to the Michter's product of 2016- present day. It just lacks the polish and complexity of yore. Only buy this product if your affluence exceeds your ability to taste the difference.
Superb bourbon!!
Appreciate this is single barrel stuff but recently had a 2018 bottle and it was exceptionally harsh on the finish, almost vomit like, very odd and unpleasant, nothing like earlier releases. Even more disappointing considering the price point now.
