Created by Distillery Manager John Campbell, Laphroaig Lore is said to be the richest ever Laphroaig! Named after the skills passed down over the generations, this permanent addition to the range is matured in a combination of casks including first fill Sherry butts and quarter casks and is said to contain some of their "most precious stock".
Pungent peat smoke and seaside minerals with a hint of ash and chocolate.
Lively with hints of bitter chocolate, ash and a spicy chili bite.
Short, dry finish with a lingering sweet aftertaste.

With five components ranging from seven to twenty one years old and barrels ranging from quarter-casks to oloroso, this is a complex and rich experience! Fruit, cinnamon, Meyer lemons, custard, creosote and leather. The young whiskies keep it bright, the old whiskies keep it mellow and give it the leather. Lovely stuff! I just hope they keep the 21yo in there for future bottlings!
I enjoyed Quarter Cask, Triple Wood, PX Cask and An Cuan Mór. This just adds to an already impressive NAS range. Lots of peat, thick, sweet with roasted elements to it. Lovely dram 90/100.
with drops of water to smooth taste but I prefer more for example An Cuan Mòr or 25 year old in same distillery or Ardbeg Uigeadail or Lagavulin 18 year old in same price category. I prefer Islay products; Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Caol Ila.
If you like peaty whisky that is balanced by an ever growing sweet aftertaste this one is for you. I've had my share of drams in the past (NAS, seasoned old whisky, independent bottlers etc.). This one is right in the top five ever for me. Great combination of casks and ages by John Campbell. And I'm not even an Islay enthusiast, usually prefer Speyside...
It is great, i must say the best Laph I ever had. It's smooth, it's Islay, it's rich in taste and complexity. If you like peaty but mellow - this is the one. The aftertaste keeps on lingering. It's great in every way... Drink this after a good meal.
