Terrific Tassie single malt from the Hellyers Road distillery, finished in French oak casks that previously held Pinot Noir wine. This has imparted a subtle fruity sweetness to the expression, helping to balance the notes of spicy malt and toasty oak. Fantastic stuff.
Buttery, biscuity, malty aromas. Hints of Pina Colada, allspice, a little tropical fruit. There’s also an underlying berry fruit character. Honeyed and very inviting.
A big, rich, sweet palate with strawberry jam and cracked black pepper. Oily and mouth-filling, with a wonderful blackcurrant note. A dash of nutmeg adds some real complexity late palate.
Short-to-medium with sweet, fruity honey on the finish.
A very interseting Nas from ex bourbon casks then with 6 months in pinot noir casks to finish, and finish it it does. You are hit with fruit, lots of fruit, pineapple, grapes, maybe banana too and strawberry jam. in the mouth its oily and again strawberry and pineapple.. pepper i as you'd expect highish so a half teaspoon open it more and dull the spice a little. has a medium to long finish that asks for more, and more...... its very nice for age and i can see me keeping this to myself struth
