Glen Marnoch - Aldi (yes, Aldi!)'s 24 year old single malt whisky! We tasted this alongside the sterling Glenbridge 40 year old in a tasting led by none other than whisky legend Jim Murray. This was distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2011…
We’re sadly sold out of this, but if you’re after a bottle of Scotch then feel free to browse our site single malt whisky.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Red apples, bourbon, gristy, vanilla. Heat brings out more bourbon and rye spice.
Lean, slightly bitter, not a huge deal of depth. An enormous hit of almost Saccharine sweetness before the rye spice develops into a slightly acrid note?
Acrid saccharine turns slightly alkali, and slightly mouth-watering (not in a good way). Becomes really very off-putting at the death.

I've had better for more than twice the price and worse for more than twice the price. Not as much depth as some, yes, but nicely rounded and not at all "acrid". Utter tosh.
Having read the tasting note I definitely not be buying this offering.
Soz, bought 17/9. Don't have a time machine. Blame the whiskey.
Bought today, 19/09/2014 at Aldi Port Sunlight for £29.99. Excellent sipping whiskey, sorry MoM couldn't disagree more.
I hadn't known the (Aldi) story behind the whisky and was surprised that a 24 year old single malt tasted so - dare I say it - cheap. Harsh, acrid and without the depth or complexity I would expect of a malt of half the age. Not recommended.
