Glen Marnoch - Aldi (yes, Aldi!)'s 24 year old single malt whisky! We tasted this alongside the sterling Glenbridge 40 year old in a tasting led by none other than whisky legend Jim Murray. This was distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2011…
We’re sadly sold out of this, but if you’re after a bottle of Scotch then feel free to browse our site single malt whisky.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Red apples, bourbon, gristy, vanilla. Heat brings out more bourbon and rye spice.
Lean, slightly bitter, not a huge deal of depth. An enormous hit of almost Saccharine sweetness before the rye spice develops into a slightly acrid note?
Acrid saccharine turns slightly alkali, and slightly mouth-watering (not in a good way). Becomes really very off-putting at the death.

As a single malt drinker of over fifty, I suggest the idiot who wrote this review wouldn't know the difference between a good whisky and a bottle of bleach. He is obviously in the wrong job because at £50 this smooth single malt ranks up in the premier league of whiskies.
Whoever wrote "unpleasant 5th june has something wrong around the mouth area. Even the most harsh of whisky from a rogue distillery would not get such a review. This is clearly a swipe at Aldi rather than the whisky. Person has no Spirit!!!
This stands up very well to some of the more expensive brands, but as with many things it shouldn't simply come down to cost (not that I saw it at £92 a bottle at the local Aldi) it comes down to drinking enjoyment, and this provides that. I can only assume that those who reviewed it got out of bed on the wrong side that morning. This is an enjoyable single malt. Not clever, not overly complex and certainly no hint of 'acrid' about it. Sample it and enjoy.
My wife bought me a bottle for my 65th birthday. I absolutely loved it. A beautiful finish and after taste. Strongly recommend it.
"We’re sadly sold out of this" and "£92.10" are your introductions ... ... and then such a negative review underneath. If you really disliked it that much, why are you "sadly' sold out and why were you selling it at around twice the price it was available at Aldi?? Surely if you thought it was so poor, you wouldn't have bought stock and if you had somehow got hold of stock you would sell it at a discount not massive premium if so bad? Or is the first part of the page just rubbish? which means we should trust the rest of your review :)
