Douglas Laing
Scotland
Single Malt
A fruity, creamy Glen Elgin here from Douglas Laing, distilled in April 2011. Into a single refill hogshead it went, where it stayed for the next eight years. In January 2020, it was bottled for the Provenance series, with a release of just 359 bottles.
Zingy apple skin and brown sugar, with touches of treacle toffee.
Caramelised hazelnut, peppery oak and vanilla buttercream.
Heather honey and flamed lemon peel.
I have tried a few of Douglas Laing's blends lately, (The Gauldrons and Timorous Beastie.) I saw this was new and with no reviews and took a punt and I was not disappointed. Great nose light floral and sweet with a nice first taste of pastries which then comes back stronger as you drink it and more savoury.
