A brand that dates back to the late 19 century. This Yellow Label bottling of Four Roses was released for the European and Japanese markets and is made up of whiskeys aged between 5 and 6 years of age.
Sweet, creamy aromas. Hints of Seville orange marmalade and lemon zest. A hint of corn sweetness and caramel.
Balanced, rich palate entry with marmalade and acacia honey. Cinnamon, lemon and oak.
Oaky, spiced finish.
Best standard Bourbon I’ve tried by far, now My ‘must have’ after buying on my last trip to Guernsey....just soooo drinkable, meat, over ice or with a mixer, it is great for all occasions!!!!
Being a fan of bourbon it's not always easy to find o very good bourbon one can recommend to others . Quality of this bourbon is gigantic in a sense of balancing your sweet and salt taste buds. It's fruity but not to much it's sweet just as a bourbon always is and it gives you the kick you need . As another example I could mention wild turkey but having tasted both today four roses beats it all the way.
Nose is a blend of vanilla, caramel, and almost a chocolate or herbal quality. Taste is very mixed, an initial lightness, followed by a mellow burn, and a slight acidic saltiness. Does this have no flavor? It seems to be very mineral flavored. But in a good way, if that makes sense. Mild lingering saltiness. Hm
I'm not a bourbon expert, but I would prefer Bulleit or Buffalo Trace over this. Where I live, (China) Buffalo Trace is about 5 pounds more expensive, online, and is SO much better. This is maybe more complex but has some kind of soapy taste that I just can't really get into.
The Four Roses small batch is one of my favourite bourbon’s. I have only recently tried it, but I will certainly be getting more in the future.
