A straightforward, nutty and malty single malt from Speyside, the Singleton of Dufftown was released to replace the Singleton of Auchroisk. It’s aged in a high proportion of European oak casks.
If you're looking to use this little stunner in a cocktail, then you could do a lot worse than making a classic Highball. You can find a recipe for one right here.
Malty with cereal/barley sweetness, buttery toast, wood shavings, hay and walnut.
Orange zest spiciness perks up a malty core of nuts, oak and toffee, hints of cut grass.
Oaky, rich with good length, some fruit lingers.
I do like to buy this one occasionally, but when these guys offer a three for the price of two, rude not to.
Ok on the palate, lingering bitterness spoils it
Surprisingly disappointing. Has a nice nose and the initial flavour has hints of dried fruit; it’s all let down by a terribly bitter after taste. There are better supermarket home brands at half the price. I would not recommend.
Lovely easy to drink with a hint of smokiness - will do while I psych myself up to pay for a Glen Ord Singleton (or a trip to the distillery and a haulage truck) again.
Unremarkable. Nothing really to write home about.
