    Rock Oyster 18 Year Old

A limited edition 18 year old variation on Douglas Laing's Rock Oyster Island blended malt, made exclusively with whiskies distilled on Arran, Jura, Islay and Orkney. We told ourselves that we wouldn't made a B-52s reference when writing this bottling note, and we're sticking to that promise.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Full-bodied coastal smoke, with hints of sugared peels and peppery oak underneath.

    Palate

A good balance of peat richness and vanilla-forward sweetness. Subtle minerality.

    Finish

A burst of heather honey appears late on the finish.

NOT Islay, no Islay, do not mention Islay

Those who imagine this contains Ardbeg, Caol Ila etc are deluded - this is ISLAND not ISLAY. So can only be Orkney, Arran, Jura. From very poor casks.

Rich, buttery. Sherry spices, mature soft fruit. Salty. Savory peat. Age comes through with time in the glass. Fusty, a fully matured 18YO.

+ bananas, banana peels. touch of tutti fruitti, from the Jura. Loses a bit of peat (about two and a half weeks in), especially on the nose, but gains fruity fullness. Whipped cream. Birthday cake. Milk chocolate. Also loses saltiness. Would not recommend water in newly opened bottle, but would very much recommend at this point. Half a teaspoon. - August Guy.

    Whipped Cream Peach Gâteau!!

Water brings out the salt, licorice, softer maritime aromas. 18 going on 16? 15? Perhaps. But this is certainly a high quality product. Looking very much forward to trying the other RM vattings.

finishing up my notes, a thought -

    * So, I'm sitting here finishing my notes, and I smells the empty glass, and by Jove! is that not the all so familiar Ardbeg spinach! Ardbeg 18! . . I'm telling you, man . .
