Unveiled in 2018, Chivas Regal XV is a 15 year old blended Scotch whisky which has been finished in casks that previously held Grande Champagne Cognac! Whisky makers are slowly beginning to use Cognac casks for maturation more and more these days, and we reckon it's a wonderful trend, as it helps to bring vibrant fruit notes and rich oak to the fore.
Powerful orange and peach notes, backed up by juicy barley.
Butterscotch, red apple and caraway. A touch of grain sweetness in the background.
Heavy vanilla and pear on the finish.
Lovely tasting notes,,goes down beautifully, an elegant whiskey,,with the right mix of flavours??
Not being a fan of this brand and it’s 12 y product I gave it a new chance with this 15 y. To my surprise far smoother and fruitier at first taste , will surely taste it soon again to confirm my first opinion.
All i have to say is, i regreted buying this stuff at the first sip. İf you like a smooth and aromatic whisky that leaves a nice scent on the glass after 12 hours, choose the Chivas Extra 13 yo. Now that's something worth the price.
Not much of a nose yet, nice mouthfeel, flavours of caramel at bottom, pears at top, vanilla in middle and on aftertaste. Nice and smooth. I expect a few more things will appear. Maybe red apples in there too. a drop of water produces a bit of brandy on nose and in mouth... but it roughens up the smoothness slightly.. not sure, but i might prefer it this way .. Slightly disappointed with nose..
Peach cobbler on the nose and a whiff of wood. On the palate pear (pear drop nearly) sweetness of toffee apple and a faint cigar box must. Bit thin on finish but smooth vanilla and butter
