Enjoy Bulleit Bourbon like the Americans do! Previously it has been bottled at 40% ABV for the UK market, but now you can get the Frontier Whiskey at 45% ABV, just like they have in Kentucky. A stunning whiskey that won a Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2012.
Give this a go in a smashing Mint Julep cocktail following the recipe below!
60ml Bulleit Bourbon
20ml Simple syrup (1 part sugar to 1 part water)
8-10 mint leaves, and three mint sprigs.
Pack a julep cup with crushed ice so it can start getting nice and cold. In a mixing glass, combine the bourbon, syrup, and mint leaves. Use a muddler to lightly bruise the leaves in the glass to release their flavour, then strain the contents into your julep cup. Garnish with three nice big sprigs of mint, (give them a little pat first, to release their minty aromas!) – then stick a straw in close by.
Bright with orange zest, toasted oak and vanilla.
Further orange notes, followed by some warming winter spices and a hint of tobacco leaf.
Smooth and spicy.
A new style of Bulleit (at least for us), but it's still as brilliant as ever!

Sweet, easy drinking, well priced. Does it get any better?
I am not a bourbon man but I do have my usual Jack Daniels on the rocks and am afraid of touching anything other than JD, but I gave this one a try based on peoples reviews and actually had this one straight & well what can I say, its much better than I expected and went down smooth. For what it is and its price I will not complain against something that is actually very good!
Like the reviewer below said, Bulleit is a good 'utility' bourbon along the lines of Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey etc It's not going to blow you away but it's good enough to make a convert of you if you're new to bourbon. And if you're looking for a regular 'turn to' or need a good quality/inexpensive bourbon as a basis for cocktails it's totally solid.
I really do like Bulleit Bourbon, mainly because of it's high rye content (I do love my rye whiskeys). It's reasonably priced and very good value for money, and makes a great Old Fashioned. Obviously it's no W L Weller, Bookers or Pappy, but for a utility Bourbon I think it's great. Buffalo Trace is possibly my favourite utility Bourbon, but I love the peppery start (it's that rye again) and smooth finish of the Bulleit.
Tried this bourbon for the first time and was very pleased with it. Incredibly smooth (perilously so in fact) despite the 45% proof with a lovely spicy vanilla finish. I'm usually a malt whisky drinker but have an occasional bourbon like Woodford or Buffalo Trace or Jim Beam but this is the best I've tried thus far. I have already recommended it to friends.
