This single cask whisky is the second release from the lads at Caskstrength.net and represents the "B" in their A-Z of drinks--the first being a limited edition Arran single malt Scotch whisky. Released in conjunction with BenRiach, this rich and powerful dram was distilled in 1996, aged for 16 years, and bottled at cask strength (55.2%). It comes from one cask (5614) and thus has a limited release of only 296 bottles. Each label is hand signed by Neil Ridley and Joel Harrison themselves, and the first 50 bottles sold come with a Cask Strength and Carry on cotton tote bag.
Nose: Toffee sweetness and Werther’s Originals spring out of the gate like an eager filly at Churchill Downs. The PX finishing is extremely apparent with brown sugar and Christmastime notes. There is a hint of salted caramel and just a whisper of granny’s old baking-and-spice cabinet.
Palate: Rich, dark, and dried fruits roll down like an avalanche and lead into a river of caramel and toffee. Some soft potpourri and candied lemon peel pops up its head but doesn’t overpower. Though it begins as an elegant racehorse, it shows its power like the mighty draught horse it is.
Finish: This filly does not disappoint! Long and lingering, it carries the salted caramel through to the back of the throat for a pleasantly dry and lip-smacking finish.
Overall: If you love sherry and adore PX, you will love this dram. An easy drinker with energy and long lasting richness, it certainly demonstrates its value. More, please…

I have had a bottle of this for some weeks now but didn't want to put a review up for fear of not being able to get a second bottle, which i have just ordered!. This is in my top 3 malts I have tasted this year and in my overall top 10. This distillary has yet to disappoint, everything i have tasted so far from Benriach has been pure class.Markings out of 25.Nose - 24Taste - 25Balance - 25Finish - 24 Everything about this malt is class in particular the palate, huge honeycombe and toffee, the finish is long and lingering. This one needs no water!. I sat with a dram for an hour in a good crystal glass, there is no need to rush beauty.Comparing to other malts i have in my collection, some over 30 years this one knocked them for six. I love cask strength whisky and this is one of the best out there...... Get this one before it's to late!!
