A handsome 9 year old Balmenach distilled in the Winter of 2002 and aged in a single refill hogshead before bottling in the Spring of 2012. This comes from Douglas Laing's stellar Provenance range which aims to bring attention to the affects of terroir and season in whisky production.
A fresh, aromatic nose with notes of grapefruit zest, manuka honey, barley malt and a touch of wine gum sweets.
Malty and rounded palate with barley grist, porridge oats with hot milk and honey, a touch of granary toast and candy floss developing late palate.
The finish is medium-long with grapefruit zest and peppermint on the tail.
