If you're a fan of rums that are packed to the brim with funky notes of overripe banana, pineapple, sharp oranges and the like, you might be a dunderhead. That's not an insult. It's another way of saying you like the high-ester rums produced in Jamaica using dunder in the fermentation, which imparts those funk-forward flavours. If you do fall into that category, you'll probably rather like this rum which just so happens to share its name! Dunderhead Rum features a blend of Caribbean rums, including a high-ester Jamaican rum packing punchy notes galore. We hope you dunderstand, this is not a particularly dunderstated rum.
We named Dunderhead in our Top 10 Best Rums under £40!
Brown sugar, banana, poached fruit flambé and five-spice. A hint of funky salinity to it underneath the warmth.
Orange zest and honey, followed by touches of clove, green apple, olive brine and caraway.
Toffee, cassia, molasses and well integrated grassy funk returning.
A big, funky rum that still manages to maintain an approachable smoothness.
Very tasty rum the description fits it perfectly, will be ordering another bottle when this one runs out.
This is a new favorite rum ! Bought as an ' xmas experiment' and didnt dissapoint, has all the fruity notes of banana, pineapple , sultanas with a dark honeyness. Had to ' Google' ' Esters' which is basicaly the Escence of Rum ! The rich flavour you get from rum truffles or a bar of Bournville ' Old Jamaica'. Its tasty and juicy. I get a slight burn from the first sip then its smooth sailing from there. This is alot better than more expensive rums i have.
Big pinapple nose, strong esters, tiny edge of burnt rubber. Benefits form a little melted ice dilution when neat. Mixes well with pineapple juice, and even Mountain Dew! Also works surprisingly well with a Tropical flavour Mr Frosty icepop instead of ice! Emminently drinkable neat but the raw edges are smoothed with a mixer.
Would reccomend to any rum drinkers
Think this is excellent value for money and fills the role of Funk Jamaican rum perfectly. Not my favourite for sipping or old fashions. But it really shines in Tiki cocktails.
